2001 Festival Review

Soultax
There was plenty of live music entertaining visitors on both days. It ranged from introspective solo folk artists, to the controlled power of the Enfield-based Conchord Big Band playing 1930s/40s big band numbers, from Volition, a young trio of hard rockers, through to Soultax, Barnet's own big, big band with its crowd pleasing repertoire of '60s Stax and Atlantic Soul music. www.soultax.co.uk
Egyptian Dancing
There was a full afternoon of dance demonstrations and audience participation, ranging from Egyptian dancing, modern show routines, jazz and tap, to Scottish, Texas-style line, and authentic Irish dancing. All punctuated with humorous and moving poetry readings by the Enfield-based Manifold Voices team.
Funfair
There was a major funfair over four days, combining the best of Hammonds and Biddalls attractions. All kinds of fun art activities for youngsters. A sell-out of stalls for hobbies, handicrafts, charities, local amenity and interest groups. A garden produce show, kite making and flying, circus skills, competitions galore, dog handling and martial arts displays. Plus roving aliens.
Something for everyone. >>>
